Second Trimester Survival Guide

The second trimester of pregnancy is usually the best. The morning sickness (or all-day sickness) is typically gone. You will probably start announcing your pregnancy to your friends and family. Also, you’re not yet huge, swollen, and completely over being pregnant. I realize that every woman is different and this isn’t always the case but for most, second trimester kind of rocks.  Here are some items to help you enjoy your second trimester of pregnancy even more.

Body Pillow

I am a stomach sleeper.  It is very difficult for me to sleep in any position besides completely on my stomach but a pregnancy pillow makes all the difference.  This pillow keeps me from turning onto my front and I love having the support between my knees to help keep my hips parallel.  The pillow is so comfy my husband and dog have tried to steal it multiple times.

Snacks

For me, nausea completely subsides by the second trimester unless I don’t eat “on time”.  Once I get overly hungry nausea comes back full blast so I keep a purse full of snacks on me at all times.  My on-the-go snacks include fruit snacks and granola bars.

Water Bottle

You need to drink a lot more water during pregnancy and I am terrible about drinking enough water.  I have found that if I keep a water bottle near me I am much more likely to drink water.  I prefer the water bottles with straws so I don’t have any accidents of spilling water all over my self.

Date Nights

Go on date nights now because in a few months you will not want to go out at all.  During the third trimester you might be exhausted and achy, or in my case only fit into one pair of your shoes.  Enjoy your adult nights out now while you still feel great.

New Bras

Your breasts are going to get much bigger during pregnancy.  If you have to buy new bras anyway why wouldn’t you just buy nursing bras?

Maternity Belly Band

I don’t like spending money on a ton of maternity clothing that I will only wear for a few months. Instead, during the second trimester of pregnancy, the BellaBand can help you stay in your normal clothes longer.   Tip: I wear mine upside down. I think this helps the band from rolling up or down.

Now is a great time to start creating your baby registry. I have created a HUGE Baby Registry Guide to help you determine exactly what you’ll want to register for. Sign up for my monthly newsletter directly below to gain access to the checklist;

Maternity Leggings

Maternity leggings are a lifesaver, especially during a winter pregnancy.  I probably wear my leggings multiple times a week to work because maternity nylons are not that awesome.  I like over-the-belly pants more than under-the-belly.

Face Wipes

I don’t get acne despite the fact that I never wash my face unless I’m pregnant.  At the very beginning of the second trimester, I always seem to get acne everywhere.  Since I still am not a fan of washing my face, my compromise is to take off my makeup with Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes.  These cloths are also great to travel with.

Babymoon

If you have the time and can afford to do so, go on a trip with your partner!  It doesn’t have to be anywhere fancy but take a trip before the baby comes. It might be some time until you have this kind of flexibility again.
