If you think I’m going to give up ice cream once the weather turns cold you’re wrong. I enjoy ice cream all year round. These fun Halloween ice cream treats are not only tasty but great to make ahead of time for a party. They are sure to be a hit with kids (plus you could always make a boozy version for the adults!).

Below I explain exactly what I used to create a vanilla ghost, an orange pumpkin float, and a mint Frankenstein’s monster sundae. Please customize to your heart’s desire!
Cardstock/Paper/Black Construction Paper (and possible black Sharpie)
Vanilla Ice Cream
Orange Sherbet
Orange Soda
Green Food Coloring
Chocolate Fudge Sauce
Chocolate Oreos
1. Color or print out the facial pieces for each Halloween character.
Since I was only making one of each character I just quickly drew each facial feature on a page of cardstock in sharpie. I think black construction paper would have looked better but I didn’t have any in my house.
If I were making a bunch of Halloween ice cream treats for a party I would make copies or print out clip art to save time.
2. Cut out each facial piece.
3. Apply glue dots to the back of each facial piece.
Depending on how large or small you draw the facial pieces you may need to cut a glue dot in half.
4. Stick the facial pieces onto each of the mason jars.
Tip: The mason jars must be dry! If you try to apply the pieces after the ice cream is in the jar (or after being in the freezer) the moisture and condensation will make adhering the pieces difficult.
Tip: The googly eyes will frost up in the freezer if making the monster sundae ahead of time. You may want to add the googly eyes when you remove the jars from the freezer though this may cause issues with the eyes sticking.

The easiest mason jar ice cream treat to make is the vanilla ghost. Just add vanilla ice cream to the mason jar. That’s it!
Tip: Let the ice cream soften for some time before scooping it into the mason jar. This way you can smush the ice cream down so there are no air pockets.
Add scoops of orange sherbet to the mason jar and then pour orange soda (I used Sunkist) over the sherbet right before serving.
If you are not interested in children having soda (I get that!) you can substitute orange juice but the color won’t be the same. Most likely the sherbet and orange juice will be two different shades of orange if you don’t mind that look.
Tip: If you will not be serving the floats right away. Scoop the sherbet into the mason jars and return to the freezer. Only pour the soda over the sherbet immediately before serving.
The most delicious of the Halloween ice cream treats, in my opinion, is the monster sundae.
Start by adding scoops of vanilla ice cream to a medium-sized mixing bowl. Using an electric mixer combine the ice cream, 1/2 teaspoon mint extract, and green food coloring.
The ice cream will now be softened which will be perfect for pouring into the mason jar and smushing down to get rid of all the air pockets.
Place in the freezer to let the ice cream harden. Then top the ice cream with chocolate fudge sauce and crushed-up Oreos. I obviously did not wait for the ice cream to harden and my fudge sank (as you can see from the pictures).
Tip: I used dark chocolate Oreos so there would be no white cream visible.
