Directions:
Step 1
Start by setting the griddle to 350 degrees Fahrenheit so that it can begin heating up. Using a griddle will make cooking the French toast sticks a lot faster. Spray with non-stick cooking spray.
Step 2
Next, taking 6 slices of bread at a time, stack them on top of one another and cut the stack into thirds. A serrated knife should easily saw through the bread without smashing the pieces. Repeat until all the bread has been cut up.

Step 3
Then whisk together the milk, cinnamon, sugar, vanilla, and eggs.
Tip – I would recommend continually mixing throughout the dipping process or your sticks will end up with a lot of cinnamon in the beginning and very little at the end. That being said, you can always add more cinnamon to the egg mixture or directly onto the sticks.
Step 4
Individually, dip each stick into the egg mixture making sure to coat the bread on all sides.
Tip – I choose not to do more than one at a time because I don’t want my bread too soggy but do whatever works for you.
Place the stick immediately on the griddle. Continue until your griddle is full but you have enough room to flip the sticks when ready.
Step 5
Flip each french toast stick once the first side is nicely browned. Usually by the time I have filled the griddle the first stick is already set to be flipped.

Step 6
Once nicely browned on the second side remove each French toast stick from the griddle. Continue with another batch until all the French toast sticks have finished cooking. If eating immediately, enjoy!

Step 7 (Optional)
If choosing to freeze your French toast sticks allow them to cool and then place in a single layer on a 9×13 pan (or cookie sheet) lined with parchment paper
. You may need to add another layer of parchment paper as you don’t want the sticks touching one another.
Place the pan in the freezer for about an hour.

Step 8 (Optional)
Now the sticks can be easily transferred into freezer bags. I filled two freezer bags with my french toast sticks.

How to Heat From Frozen
When you are ready to eat the french toast sticks just pull out however many sticks you want and pop them in the toaster.
Sometimes you might need two rounds of toasting the sticks to get them warm enough throughout.
Now you can have breakfast at any time of the day or night!

- 1 loaf Texas Toast (18 slices)
- 1 1/4 cup milk
- 8 eggs
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
-
Preheat griddle to 350 and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
-
Use a serrated knife to cut each slice of bread into thirds
-
Whisk together milk, cinnamon, sugar, vanilla, and eggs.
-
Dunk a slice of bread into the milk mixture and place on the griddle. Continue until your griddle is full.
-
Flip each bread slice once nicely browned.
-
If freezing, move finished slices to parchment paper.
-
Repeat until all slices have been cooked.
-
Once slices have cooled put the layers of parchment paper with sticks on top in a 9X13 pan (or on a cookie sheet) and put in the freezer.
-
Freeze for about an hour then transfer to freezer bags.
-
When ready to eat I just pop the sticks in my toaster (you may have toast them twice to get the sticks warm all the way through). Enjoy!
