The Most Addicting Chex Mix Recipe Ever

roasting pan full of Chex mix

My stepdad makes the most addicting Chex mix. Any time our family goes home for a holiday or somewhere together on vacation we insist he make it. Unfortunately, because of social distancing, we won’t be able to see him for a number of weeks (months?) so I am going to have to make this recipe myself in order to get my fix.

As with any Chex mix recipe you can completely customize it to your tastes. You’ll see below that I do not include any nuts or pretzels because I don’t like them. Other people would consider it a sin not to include those ingredients. Let me know in the comment section what you like to include in your go-to Chex mix!

Chex Mix Directions;

Step 1:

Preheat your oven to 250 degrees. While it is preheating melt a stick (1/2 c) of butter in the roasting pan you’ll be using for baking the Chex mix.

Step 2:

small bowl of Chex mix seasonings

In a small bowl combine all the seasonings (1 tbsp chili powder, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 1/2 tsp onion powder, and 1/2 tsp celery salt). Dump the spices into the melted butter and mix well.

Step 3:

In a large bowl combine 2 c Wheat Chex, 2 c Corn Chex, 2 c Rice Chex, 2 c Nacho Cheese Bugles (or just use the whole bag like I do), and 2 c Cheez-Its.

You can see my grocery store was out of Wheat Chex at the time.

Now is when you can add additional ingredients to customize your own perfect Chex mix. My step-dad likes to add pizza-flavored Goldfish and Crispix. Others typically add peanuts, pretzels, oyster crackers, bagel chips, etc. Personally, I love sesame sticks but they’re expensive!

Once mixed, add to the roasting pan and mix well to coat.

Step 4:

Roast in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Every 15 minutes give the Chex mix a good stir.

After 30 minutes sprinkle 1/4 c grated parmesan cheese over the mix and stir again.

Step 5:

After removing from the oven let the Chex mix cool completely before storing it in an airtight container.

Enjoy! Try not to eat it all in one sitting.
