Something to Read: 25 Great Books for Toddlers

I am loving the popular “four gift rule” for Christmas. Every child receives one item in each of the following categories; something they want, something they need, something to wear, and something to read. If you know me, then you know that my favorite category is “something to read”. Thankfully, my girls (ages 1 and 2.5) love to read too. Here are my recommendations for excellent books to give toddlers as gifts.

Children’s Board Books You and Your Toddler Will Love To Read Together

Reading is one of my favorite things to do and I hope to pass the love of reading onto my daughter.  I make sure that we read multiple books a day.  I have found that the books my toddler tends to lean towards I do not find enjoyable – there are no storylines, just words matched up with pictures.  Likewise, the books I like to read the most to my daughter she seems to lose interest with quickly.  Here is a list of sturdy children’s board books we both enjoy to read together over and over again.  These are books you won’t find on similar lists so I hope you come across some new favorites to read with your child.

Baby Shower Game of Quotes From Children’s Books

If you’ve been to my blog before you know I love to read. My passion for reading developed at a very early age. In elementary school, the one time I faked sick to stay home was so I could read a new book – #nerdalert!

I’m so happy that the trend of bringing a book instead of a card to baby showers has continued for a number of years now. What a sweet way to start building baby’s first library.

A simple baby shower game can also incorporate everyone’s love of children’s books. There are a number of ways you can play “Name That Book”. In each version, guests hear quotes from popular children’s books and try to guess the titles. Whoever correctly guesses the most titles wins!

Below I have included variations of ways you can play the game as well as a FREE PRINTABLE for those who want to make their baby shower planning process easy. Yes, the answers are included! I tried to pick book quotes that were very famous so the game would be fun (and competitive) to play.

Have a children’s book that you, or the mom-to-be, love that I didn’t include? Add more questions or create your own list of quotes that would be more personal to your party.

Finally, I am starting to see a glimmer of spring just around the corner. The temperature is no longer bitterly cold, we have more hours of sunlight, and the snow is almost completly gone. This means it is time for SPRING CLEANING!!
