May 2021 Book Reviews and Recommendations

"May Book Reviews" with the images of the four book covers

I don’t know about where you live, but the weather here in Wisconsin is finally starting to get nicer and I’ve been able to read outside a little! Sunshine plus books make me happy. This month I have a few interesting picks that I surprisingly really enjoyed. It’s important to add some variety to your typical book selections to keep things interesting. I hope you are able to find your next great read from my book reviews and recommendations for May below.

Small Ways to Go Green

I’ll be the first to admit I have a long way to go in sustainable practices but I think what really matters is that I am trying to improve my habits. Every little step I can take to reduce the amount of waste I contribute makes progress. I’m excited to try to make even bigger changes in the future. This is the only planet we’ve got and if we all try to reduce, recycle, and reuse more it would certainly benefit our planet. I’m no expert, but here are small ways I am trying to be a little greener.

April 2021 Book Reviews and Recommendations

I’m bringing you some variety this month but I have to warn you, none of these books are very light or funny. Surprisingly, it was the thriller that won my vote for book of the month. Check out my book reviews below to read what I thought of each of these stories.

Best Gifts for a 3 Year Old

pin image "37+ Gift Ideas for 3 Year Olds"

Our daughter just turned four so I now feel confident in recommending gift ideas for three-year-olds. One fun aspect of three-year-olds is that their personality really starts to shine at this age. Also, the child has started to develop real interests which you can use to your advantage when selecting gifts. Does the child love to dance? If so, then maybe ballet slippers and a tutu would make great gifts. If the kid is fascinated by bugs surprise him/her with a magnifying glass, butterfly net, etc. Themed gifts are always a great way to go. I like to always add in a book that fits the theme (we’re big readers in our house). I hope this three-year-old gift guide helps you think of the perfect present.

Asian Chicken Salad

I am not usually a fan of salad unless it has a lot of cheese on it (usually goat cheese) but this Asian Chicken Salad I could eat every week. It reminds me of the salad I love to get at Panera Bread, the Asian Sesame Salad with Chicken. It’s so yummy! I think next time I make it I will try to add wonton strips to make my recipe even more similar.
