Disney – Epcot

Epcot was by far our favorite Disney park. That fact was largely due to the Festival of the Arts that was taking place, plus how much our kids enjoyed visiting all the “countries”.

Rides

You probably don’t need to purchase Lightning Lane passes for Epcot but we did and I don’t regret it. Lightning Lanes allowed us the time to get everything else in. Honestly, I wish we had another full day at Epcot and skipped Hollywood Studios. I would have loved to spend more time in each country. I wanted to eat more (a lot more!). Plus, a few of the rides were down for the majority of the day (like Test Track – grrr) and we didn’t get to ride them, which was a little frustrating.

Note: The Frozen ride reopened the day we went to Epcot after being down for weeks for refurbishment. It was not accepting any Lightning Lane passes. We were all in agreement that the line was NOT worth the wait.

*LL means we had a Lightning Lane

  • Gran Fiesta Tour
  • Guardians of the Galaxy (LL)
  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
  • The Seas with Nemo & Friends (LL)
  • Soarin’ Around the World (LL)

Tip: Guardians was my favorite ride of the entire trip!!

Shows

Disney on Broadway Concert Series (We went to Epcot while the Festival of the Arts was occurring. This concert series features two Broadway stars at each show and WOW, incredible. I will never forget that performance.)

Characters

*Only one of our kids was interested in meeting characters and getting their signatures. Even then, only specific characters were requested by our child. Many more characters are available at each park.

Attractions

Artful Photo Ops (Festival of the Arts attraction – scenes from movies like Mary Poppins were backdrops we were able to jump into)

Aquarium (We spent a significant amount of time here as one of our kids LOVES aquariums.)

Chalk Art Galleries (Festival of the Arts attraction – very cool to see completed drawings as well as artists in action)

Expression Section: A Paint by Numbers Mural (Festival of the Arts attraction – we each got to paint four squares in a huge mural and received a bookmark of what the final painting would look like)

Journey of Water (Cute and fun to walk through)

Tip: Time this for a hot part of the day!

Kidcot Fun Stops (I was shocked at how much my kids were obsessed with going to each country and getting stamps in their passports – worth every penny!! If you buy anything at Epcot, purchase the passports to keep your kids engaged.)

Once Upon A Stage (Festival of the Arts Attraction – an exhibit showcasing costumes, props, and more from Disney productions that have been on Broadway like Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, etc.)

Food

Crepes A Emporter by La Creperie de Paris (Our kids loved the housemade hazelnut & chocolate spread crepe.)

La Cantina de San Angel (Get the empanadas con queso!)

Kringla Bakeri Og Kafé (Get the skolebrod and triple chocolate chip cookie to share)

Club Cool (Head here to try sodas from all over the world – for free! Your kids will love this; you can cool down, but beware – a few are gross.)

Tip – If going during the Festival of the Arts, there are food booths with artful twists all over the park.
