Of the four books I chose to review this month there were some clear winners for me. I’m going on a girls’ weekend trip soon during which I hope to get a lot more pleasure reading in but I’ll probably just end up chatting the whole time (I don’t get many uninterrupted adult conversations). I hope you find a book to add to your summer reading list from the recommendations below.
Summer is the absolute best. I’m in the best mood the majority of the time. Wisconsin is probably not the state I should be living in if I am this affected by warmth and sunlight. I’ve been able to read outside each day in little spurts between refereeing fights between my kids and getting out water toys for the backyard. It’s been a good month of reading. I have a lot of emotions about our country right now. Just thinking about legislatively what has gone down (and what hasn’t) since January is A LOT to handle. When I’m stressed, sad, and angry I turn to books to calm down. Reading before bed is the only way I am able to turn my brain off from current events. But selecting the right book at the right time is important for your mental health too. Here are my four book reviews for the month of May. I never got around to writing up my March book reviews (that’s never happened before!). Life seems extra busy right now even though it’s really not. Maybe during the pandemic I just forgot how to multi-task?
