I love to celebrate holidays with my children. St. Patrick’s Day is one of the most fun holidays to celebrate because there is no stress associated with it (no gift buying, no traveling, etc). We love to make a leprechaun trap, dress in green, and make fun mint-flavored treats. As with every holiday, we also read a lot of books. Here are some of our favorite St. Patrick’s Day children’s books.

I find myself turning to fantasy stories more and more these days as historical fiction and dystopian novels are becoming a little too close to reality for my taste. When reading I need to completely escape our current world politics to be able to enjoy myself. I hope you find some books you are excited to read in my book reviews below. Just beware, I did read some stories with heavier topics this month and you may want to check out the trigger warnings first.

I started the year off strong and then sickness led me to not read a single page for over a week. I’m not sure if that has ever happened to me before but I was so miserable and in pain that even books could not bring me any comfort. This month was heavy on fantasy and romance but I hope you find a story in my book ratings below that you are excited to read.

In 2024 I read more books than ever, a total of 122! I’ve started reading more paper books solely because I can only have 10 holds from the library for my Kindle at any one time, which is very limiting to me. This year I’ve made some reading self-discoveries. For example, hockey romances are SPICY and I am here for them. Also, I’m drawn to the very specific trope of a single father with a child who has an illness/disability – weird. I can’t wait to see what amazing books 2025 has to offer. Here (in no particular order) are my top 12 reads of 2024.
