Cabin Fever Movies

cozy winter

It snowed today . . . again. Seriously, is this winter ever going to end? We have been stuck inside so many days because of dangerous roads, wind chill, or below freezing temps and we are starting to get cabin fever. Here are some movies to watch when you are in the depths of this horrible season.

Frozen

A movie you can certainly watch if you are stuck inside with young kiddos at home. Frozen is a popular animated Disney movie about two princess sisters. One sister is afflicted with the condition of turning things she touches into ice. She runs away when her town is trapped in winter. Her sister is determined to find her and bring her back.

Groundhog Day

In Groundhog Day Bill Murray relives the same day over and over again. Each day he acts and says things differently in hopes that it will end his personal hell of being stuck in Punxsutawney.

Cool Runnings

A little bit of Jamaica, a little bit of Canada, Cool Runnings makes the perfect cabin fever movie. It is a true story about a group of want-to-be Olympic runners who don’t make the summer Olympics and decide to form a bobsled team in order to qualify for the winter Olympics. A great perfect movie to watch with the whole family.

Love Actually

It’s very Christmasy, but Love Actually is wonderful to watch anytime your stuck inside this winter. A variety of love stories intertwine within this British film. Some stories are funny, some sad, but in the end it’s all about love.

Grumpy Old Men

Grumpy Old Men is one of my favorite movies of all time. Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau are at their finest as next-door neighbors/frenemies. They ice fish, they share local town gossip, and they both have the hots for the new woman in town. Who will win her affection?

The Mighty Ducks

A lawyer gets a DUI and as punishment has to complete community service coaching a local youth hockey team. Over time the team learns skills, teamwork, and how to trust one another. Definitely a feel-good sports movie, The Mighty Ducks is wonderful to watch with school-aged kids.

Bridget Jones’s Diary

Bridget Jones is a woman in her 30s who is kindof a mess. She decides it is time to make some changes in her life. If you need some laughs at another’s expense, the romantic comedy Bridget Jones’s Diary is a good one.

Beauty and the Beast

A classic Disney tale, Beauty and the Beast tells the story of a French girl who is kidnapped by a beast when she goes searching for her lost father. The beast is actually a prince but he can’t turn back into a human unless he finds love before a rose dies. Can his heart be changed?

The Vow

Another true story on the list, in The Vow a woman is in a car accident and loses a number of years from her memory. Most importantly, she doesn’t remember she has a husband and her life (clothes, job, etc) is completely foreign to her. Her husband decides to try to remind her why she loves him.

While You Were Sleeping

Such an underappreciated film, While You Were Sleeping is a film about a woman who saves a man’s life. While he is in a coma his family members mistakenly believe the woman is his fiance and she doesn’t correct them.

Little Women

Four sisters, all with very different personalities, grow up together during the Civil War. In Little Women these strong women certainly make an impression on their neighbors and community. Trust me, Christian Bale is almost worth having snow for.

A perfect list of movies to watch on a snowy day. Kids' movies, romances, sports movies, this list has it all! Grab the popcorn and settle in when you are stuck inside during winter. #cabinfever #snowday
