Reading is one of my favorite things to do and I hope to pass the love of reading onto my daughter. I make sure that we read multiple books a day. I have found that the books my toddler tends to lean towards I do not find enjoyable – there are no storylines, just words matched up with pictures. Likewise, the books I like to read the most to my daughter she seems to lose interest with quickly. Here is a list of sturdy children’s board books we both enjoy to read together over and over again. These are books you won’t find on similar lists so I hope you come across some new favorites to read with your child.
This book is a quick read with a few different verses of “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”. The main appeal is that there are sliders in the book that my daughter loves to move by herself.
Karen Katz has a number of books we like but this a great touch and feel book focusing on farm animals.
I like this book because it has helped my child start learning her body parts. Plus, if you read it while having a snack of blueberries the child’s attention is sure to be kept through the entirety of the book.
We probably read this book every single day. My toddler likes to “sing” along to the different nursery rhymes and is learning the accompanying motions to a number of them. “If You’re Happy and You Know It” is one of her favorites in this book.
Each page has a slider with pictures underneath that preview what animal is on the next page.
There are cutouts to the next page that children really enjoy and this book helps a toddler learn colors.
One of my absolute favorites on the list, this is a cute book about a baby saying “moo” for every animal she sees that day while the parents try to correct her.
The flaps in this book are not going to tear off, they are very sturdy and are lifted in a number of different ways. Again, farm animals are a big appeal.
Since there are barely any words I didn’t think I would love this book but I do! You can make up your own dialogue and narration which helps add variety to your storytime if your child insists on reading the same books over and over.
In this one, the baby is not to blame for a number of messes around the house.
I hope you have found some new stories to read on this list of children’s board books.
