Best Reads of 2024
In 2024 I read more books than ever, a total of 122! I’ve started reading more paper books solely because I can only have 10 holds from the library for my Kindle at any one time, which is very limiting to me. This year, I’ve made some reading self-discoveries. For example, hockey romances are SPICY and I am here for them. Also, I’m drawn to the very specific trope of a single father with a child who has an illness/disability – weird. I can’t wait to see what amazing books 2025 has to offer. Here (in no particular order) are my top 12 reads of 2024.

The Crown of Gilded Bones and The War of Two Queens
Published Date: April 2021 and March 2022
Genre: Fantasy
These are books three and four in the Blood and Ash series. There is world-building. It’s very sexy. Battling rulers with a strong female lead. This series is my favorite fantasy series so far (and yes, I’ve read ACOTAR).
The House In The Cerulean Sea

Genre: Fantasy
This is an absolutely fantastic book, I would recommend this to almost anyone. A case worker goes to live at a secluded orphanage for a month to determine if it should continue to run. The orphans are magical children thought to be a danger to society. It’s whimsical and will pull on your heartstrings.
Bride

Genre: Fantasy
A perfect starter fantasy if that’s not your typical genre. Humans, Weres, and Vampyres exist together but mostly separate. A marriage arrangement between a Vampyre and an alpha Werewolf is made to keep the peace. There’s (hot) romance, backstabbing, alliances, mystery, etc.
Yours Truly

Two doctors start off on the wrong foot. Eventually, they enter into a fake relationship which then turns into the real thing. As cheesy as the book sounds there are real issues mixed in such as divorce, anxiety, and major health problems.
Ready or Not

Genre: Romance
An accidental pregnancy leads to a lot of changes in a woman’s life. This story features friends-to-lovers and modern co-parenting.
The Serpent & The Wings Of Night

Genre: Fantasy
The adopted human daughter of a vampire king is entering a competition in which only the victor will survive and have their wish granted. Book one of two.
