Subscription Boxes – The Gift That Keeps On Giving

The Gift That Keeps on Giving

My friend and I were chatting today about how fun the holidays are only to then have a huge letdown in January with nothing to look forward to.  My solution – subscription boxes!  Subscription boxes make perfect Christmas gifts (or gifts at any time of the year).  You can rest assured no one is returning this gift!

Why are Subscription Boxes so Great?

First of all, the boxes are often personalized.  The receiver usually gets to go on the website after getting a gift card and answers questions in order for the box to be designed specifically with that person in mind.  With some companies, you even get to pick exactly what comes in your box.

Also, the present allows for the receiver to look forward to something in the bleakness that is January.  The boxes can come every month, seasonally, or however often the gift giver or receiver chooses.

How to Gift a Subscription Box

Subscription boxes are super easy to gift.   Your shopping could be done in one day if you get a subscription box for everyone on your list! Plus, talk about easy to wrap.

Depending on the company, you are either purchasing a gift card for the receiver to then use and answer questions online to get personalized products or are selecting the type of box subscription you want to buy.

Some subscription plans can vary by the number of products sent, how often a box is sent, or by your budget.

*REMINDER –  I highly recommend using Rakuten (formally Ebates) with all your upcoming shopping.  You get cashback rebates by just going through the website or app first.  I have received numerous checks from Rakuten by just doing my normal shopping.  If you haven’t signed up for Ebates please use my Rakuten referral code.  I would greatly appreciate it!  But seriously, it’s free money why wouldn’t you use Rakuten?

Here is just a sample of a few subscription boxes some people on your shopping list might like.  Please note, there are tons and tons of different subscription boxes out there for every taste.

Subscription Box Ideas

For the Fashionista (Men, Women, or Kids):

I personally have used Stitchfix many times and I love it!

You start by making a profile including your budget, style, and sizes so the stylist has a better idea of what clothing and accessories to send you.  You can even make requests.

The company then sends you the box and you get to try on 5 items in the comfort of your home.  Anything you don’t like you can send back in the included prepaid package.  Some of my favorite pieces in my closet currently came from Stitchfix boxes I received years ago.

If you decide to give Stitchfix a try (or give it as a gift) please use my referral code. I get a $25 credit and you will too!

For the Beauty Queen:

Birchbox is an extremely popular subscription box. Each month a box is sent including personalized makeup, hair, skincare, and fragrance products. I love that the box includes information on how to use the products.

Another great box featuring beauty items is the Allure Beauty Box. This monthly box has at least 3 full-size items that are top beauty picks by the Allure editors.

For the Foodie:

There are a number of different meal delivery subscription boxes available, for good reason!  It is so fun to go online, pick what meals you would like to try, and then have all the ingredients (and recipes) delivered to you.  I personally have tried Hello Fresh but Blue Apron and Home Chef are also extremely popular.

Not technically a subscription box, but I would be the happiest person ever if someone gifted me this ice cream box from Jeni’s.

Other great gift options are “of the month” clubs such as – pie, bagels, or beer.
