You probably thought this post was going to be sentimental and that I was going to have an answer such as my children or my husband (which are both true) but that’s not the response I’m going to give.
When my husband surprised me six years ago with a Kindle for my birthday I wasn’t sure I would like it. I thought that the feel of reading a “real” book would be lost. Wouldn’t staring at a screen all the time hurt my eyes and get old quickly? The answer is no! Now I can’t stand reading a paper book. Paper books are much heavier to carry around and take up a lot more room in your purse. You need to have a light if you want to read at night whereas my Kindle has one built in. Also, my wrist starts to hurt when holding a paper book at certain angles (#firstworldproblems).
Other benefits of a Kindle include; easy downloading of books at any time – even library books, I am never bored or without a form of entertainment, you never lose your place, the Kindle books are usually much cheaper than the paper copy, and all the extra benefits of technology (Kindles include a dictionary, ability to highlight and save passages, etc).
For my birthday this year, my husband convinced me to trade in my Kindle (before it dies for good) for a new one. When you trade in your old Kindle you get money for it PLUS a 25% discount on a new one. Super good deal! I have to say though it was the longest week of my life waiting for my new one to arrive.
But it is finally here, the best gift I ever received – my Kindle.
Another great gift idea for book lovers (hint, hint) is a Kindle Unlimited membership plan. There are over 1 million ebooks and thousands of audiobooks a person has access to with an Unlimited plan. You don’t even need a Kindle because you can access the books on any device. Click the banner below to check it out!
