I used to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by “running” a .5K (yes you read that right) which earned you a cup to fill up at numerous local bars. These days I set up elaborate leprechaun traps with my children and have a more laid-back celebration. If you too are celebrating at home this year might I suggest some delicious Irish food and a romantic Irish movie. Here are three of my favorite movies to watch on St. Patrick’s Day.

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman play enemies turned lovers in this romantic tale. A poor Irish man flees to America with a young woman from a wealthy family. He is determined to own his own land but the pair come across many struggles and he abandons her so she can return to her family for help. In the end, there is a race to win land in Oklahoma. Who will win the best plot?
I love this movie so much. But make sure to keep some Kleenex handy! A young woman’s husband dies from a brain tumor and leaves her letters that randomly show up. In the letters are tasks such as to get up and get dressed. Another is to travel back to Ireland with her friends. Their love story is told throughout her grieving process but she’s reminded that her life isn’t over just because his is. Also, this movie has a great soundtrack.
In this rom-com, two divorce lawyers are highly competitive. In court, they represent opposite sides of a famous feuding couple and each spouse wants to win their Irish castle in the divorce settlement. The lawyers head to Ireland to gather information but start to catch romantic feelings for one another.
